Passing Variables

I would like to pass variables on a button click to another module that is not visible until it gets the variables from the first module. First, can this be done? If so, how?

I found some articles on how to pass variables using server.transfer but I do not know if this will work or not because I want to use .ascx files.

you can pass information to the user control by creating properties on the control, fill them up through your page in a button click eventhandler or so.
